Dance is a performing art. One of the most important aspects of studying dance, therefore, is to learn how to perform. We are a performing school. Our studio believes that the best way to hone your skills as a dancer is to concentrate on technique, build skills and then learn how to put them to use in front of a live audience. The Joan Harris Centre stages five full-school recitals each year. The shows are structured in such a way that they progress in complexity as the season continues. The year begins with our annual Summer Showcases at Knoebels Amusement Resort each summer. The Halloween Spooktacular is held in October and December brings our family favorite, Holiday Extravaganza. All of our ballet students appear in our Spring Ballet each April and then we hold our largest and most involved shows of the year at the F. M. Kirby Center every June. Our shows are known for their large scale productions, professional lighting and set designs and their entertainment value offering something for everyone. These productions, on an eight-week basis, work as an excellent motivational tool in the classroom, ensuring that the students give their best all year long. The studio’s ambitious schedule also includes appearances at various community festivals, events, showcases and working with touring shows. This gives our parents and families ample opportunities to witness the progress of our students.
