PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Dance is a performing art. In order to properly develop a dancer, one must also learn to perform. This is the reason the Joan Harris Centre stages five full-school performances a year. Each eight-week session the studio produces a lively show that features all the students of the school. The summer session concludes with a picnic and performance at Knoebels Amusement Resort, October brings our Halloween Spooktacular, and in December our Holiday Extravaganza. Each spring we stage a full-length ballet and in June all of our dancers appear in our biggest shows of the year at the F.M. Kirby Center. These shows not only give our parents and families an opportunity to see the progress of our children throughout the year, but also instill in the dancers the skill and polish that only comes from performing on a professional stage in front of a live audience. It serves as a constant motivation for the students to work hard in each in every class and creates the ability to learn choreography quickly which is essential for a successful audition.
